Ivy Residences cannot guarantee that other participants are affiliated with the University of Chicago, as this program is offered to all prospective student residents. Ivy Residences also promotes this technology with other local organizations including, but not limited to, Jackson Park Hospital, Toyota Technical Institute, University of Chicago faculty & staff, members of Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce, in addition to many other local organizations.

No. If you have a significant other, we would love to accommodate you in another apartment type.
Yes, your bedroom will have a privacy lock so you can lock your bedroom door.
You will need to discuss and agree with your roommates on what items you can bring along with you. The bedrooms come furnished, however, if you wish to bring your own bedroom furniture we will remove it for a $100 fee. Artwork and other personal items, such as dishware, linens, etc., will need to be provided by the roommates.
Yes, but be reasonable about it. Guests cannot sleep over in the common areas.
Potentially, depending on which bedroom you select. You will know ahead of time if you share a bathroom with a maximum of one other roommate, and this is factored into your rent.
- You have a one-time, in-building move option with a 60 day notice. So if you don’t like your roommate(s), you can move within the building to another unit.
- If after your move, you are still not satisfied, you can terminate your lease with 60 days’ notice.
- If there are no available rooms to move into the property, you can terminate your lease with 60 days’ notice.
Yes. If you have a preference for a gender-specific space, we can try and accommodate that preference but cannot guarantee that your apartment will be or remain single gender.
Roommates are assigned based on availability. If you have a friend that you would like to move into your coliving apartment, we will try our best to move your friend into the same apartment as you. Otherwise, all roommates will be assigned by management.
Common areas come with:
- Couch
- Media console
- Coffee table
- End table
- Lounge chair
- Ottoman
- Kitchen table
- Four dining chairs
Bedrooms are furnished with:
- Full size bedframe and mattress
- Four drawers to be arranged under bed or as a dresser
- Night stand
- Desk
- Desk chair
Everything is still billed and charged as though it is full. So if you’re the only person in a three-bedroom when you move in, you’re only responsible for 1/3 of the utility bills.
Each resident will be billed separately for their portion of utilities. If you live in one bedroom of a three-bedroom, you pay 1/3 of the monthly utilities, including Internet.
Yes, each resident is only responsible for their rent payment. Each resident’s application is reviewed and approved independently.
